About the painting

The story behind the painting

The Tide Sleeps Here captures boats resting along the River Chelmer in soft, misty light, with the darker working boats emerging from the atmosphere as the river disappears into the distance.

The painting is built around the contrast between the pale, atmospheric distance and the weight of the working boats in the foreground. As the river disappears into the mist, the scene becomes quieter and quieter — almost as though the tide itself has stopped for a moment.

How the timed edition works

This print is available to order for a limited release period only. During the release window, all orders are taken as pre-orders.

Once the ordering period closes, the final edition size is confirmed based on the total number of prints sold. That number becomes the permanent edition size and no further prints from this edition will be produced.

Each print is then made to order, individually numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Production begins as soon as the release closes. We will endeavour to dispatch every order as quickly as possible, although delivery times may vary depending on the total number of orders received.
